Catarina Martins

My priority is to ensure there is a next LGBTIQ+ Equality Strategy and make sure it's duly implemented. I will propose to include LGBTI rights in the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights and maintain a close dialogue with queer civil society. More generally, as a guiding principle, I will promote the defence of public services in all the appropriate legislative files. Figures show that the LGBTI community is disproportionately affected by the housing crisis and underfunded health systems.

I promise to persistently defend human rights and oppose systemic oppression with all my words and actions. I will always support the kind of decision-making that promotes the improvement of minorities to equal status.

I will advocate for LGBT+ rights at the European Parliament, I will vote for non-heterosexual marriage and child adoption, I will fight for laws, which protect LGBT+ people against violence and against discrimination in the workplace.

I will be an active voice for LGBTIQ+ in the European parliament.

I will prioritize human rights and equality in all decision-making.

I will actively engage with LGBTIQ+ advocacy groups and make sure that people who are affected by decisions are heard.

I take into account the fact that intersections of minority identities can act as oppression multipliers. I work for anti-racist and feminist policies.

Jonas Kettunen

The role of the Council of Europe, which is independent from the EU, in human rights work and in promoting human rights cooperation between states have to be strengthened, and the Council's recommendations for securing LGBTQIA+ rights must be implemented at national levels and by agreements. The work of the LQBTIQ Equality Strategy must be strengthened. Active dialogue need to be held with activists and organizations promoting democracy, equality and the rights of minorities, and taking into account their expertise. The rights of asylum seekers belonging to minorities must be protected.
