Because the European Union is rooted in fundamental rights, I will continue fighting for the European Commission to hold Member States to account for their rule of law and fundamental rights obligations using all its tools available. As a long-standing member of the EMPL Committee, I will continue advocating for strong social protections for LGBT people across legislative files. And importantly, I will continue to speak out in favour of LGBT rights and to be prompt in condemning any attempt to impinge on them to the detriment of our societies.
